Part 1: Living as a disciple of Jesus
Watch
Learn
By our Baptism we are made disciples (followers) of Jesus. This means we pattern our life on His life since Jesus said “I AM the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE”. In following Jesus we find truth, beauty and happiness!
When we say the Act of Contrition just before reciving absolution (forgivness) in the Sacrament of Confession we promise to not sin again. We also say we promise to do better. But this is just the beginning. Being a good Catholic Christian doesn’t mean we spend all day worrying about if something is a sin. IT DOES MEAN that we look for ways that we can BE LIKE JESUS. To do good. To find those places in the world where there is sadness, fear and doubt and then put love there. Jesus’ love. Jesus, by your Baptism has given you a special mission of LOVE for the world.
Action
Think about what it means to be a Good Samaritan for others. Jesus asks us to help, share and forgive others.
Have your child keep track (with your help) of what daily act of love or service they did for the next 7 days.
Either at the end of the day, or when you identify a good action, have them write down what they did that day in the square for that day on the calendar provided.
At the end of the week, see how many Acts of Love they have done. Maybe other family members would like to join in as well! 🙂
Part 2: Jesus Forgives a Sinner
Watch
Discuss
- In what way did Jesus show his love to Zacchaeus?
- Why were the other people not happy that Jesus was going to Zacchaeus’ home?
- How do you forgive?
- In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus tells us how to forgive. Read together the Lord’s Prayer and talk about how it tells us to forgive. (Forgot the prayer? It’s at the bottom of this webpage!)
Part 3: Seeds of Faith

You will need:
- A flower pot
- Flower seeds of your choice
- A small bag of dirt
- Stickers to decorate the pot
Check each day to see if your seeds grow. Don’t forget to water your seeds and give them lots of sunlight! Think back to the Good Samaritan video and some of the activities you might do during the week. What seeds are you planting each day to that will help others grow closer to God? When your flower grows watch how it follows the sun! We are called as disciples of Jesus to follow the SON wherever he goes!
Send us a picture of yourself with your plant growing.
If you can’t upload your work here, please email your Sacramental Preparation Team Leader Members
PRAYERS TO PRACTICE
(TRY SAYING BEFORE BED)
OUR FATHER
Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
HAIL MARY
Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you
among women,
And blessed is the fruit
of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
GLORY BE
Glory to the Father
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever.
Amen.
ACT OF CONTRITION
My God,
I love you with all my heart
and I am sorry for my sins.
Please forgive me.
I promise not to sin again.
Help me always
to be more like you.
Amen.
Congratulations!
You have finished the program! On the day of your first confession, please arrive at least 5-10min early. Follow the instructions of the hospitality ministers and be sure to wear a mask. You will enter using the parish Hall doors. Be sure to let the volunteers know you are there for first confession. Then you will wait in line for your turn. You can take the “Steps for a good confession” to confession with you. Have your mom and dad greet the priest with you before you make your confession. Jesus is just waiting to forgive you and give you His love!
